Information For Guests With Disabilities

It should be noted that the Cove Motel is an older property, built in the 1950's, and that we have not undertaken any alterations. While we welcome guests with disabilities, due to its age, our property has limited accessibility features, which may present some problems for guests who use wheelchairs, as discussed below. The COVID 19 pandemic has significantly affected our ability to make changes, and we want our guests with disabilities to make an informed choice about the degree to which our property can meet their accessibility needs.

We are located 1.4 miles from Daytona Speedway, and have a total of 40 rooms. We are close to the beach. Our rooms have updated furnishings and are newly painted, We have a friendly, welcoming staff who look forward to serving you. Please feel free to call our front desk with specific questions or requests about how we can best serve you.

On an ongoing basis, we have sought to enhance the accessible features of our property, and we are engaged in adding more accessible features within the rooms reserved for guests with disabilities. Please contact us for additional improvements as we proceed with this effort.

However, despite our ongoing efforts, given the age of the property, the designated rooms may be problematic due to size limitations and other prohibitive features, particularly the bathrooms, especially if you are unable to ambulate from your wheelchair.

Due to the age of the property, and in light of the financial impacts of COVID-19 upon our operations, we want you to know all of the rooms reserved for guests with disabilities have some barriers to access, including a lack of maneuvering clearance within the bathrooms.

Guests with wheelchairs, unless they can ambulate, will not be able to easily use the designated rooms, including the bathrooms, due to size limitations . Please note that the designated rooms have two beds, so if you use an attendant, we can accommodate them.

After a careful assessment and consultation with experts, we have taken the steps that are readily achievable at this time. We will of course continue to engage in readily achievable barrier removal, on an ongoing basis, as our budget allows, and will update the website periodically to keep you informed. Feel free to call the front desk with any questions.

Parking Lot

The parking lot is accessible, but has a slight increase in slope. Correcting the slope is not readily achievable at this time.

Path of Travel to the Check in Area

The path of travel to the registration area is not accessible, and therefore we have instituted an alternative check in process for our guests with disabilities, as described below.

Check In/ Registration Area - Alternative Check-In Process For Our Guests With Disabilities

The check-in area is not accessible to guests in wheelchairs, and after extensive consideration we have determined that making the check-in area accessible is not readily achievable. As an alternative, we have implemented the following policy concerning check-in of guests with mobility disabilities, as set forth below.

Guests with mobility disabilities will be asked to check in from a designated area outside the entrance that is protected from rain and sun, and will be asked to call the front desk upon their arrival to check in. To check in, guests with mobility disabilities should call the front desk at (phone number). Their place in line to check in will be noted, and they will be served in order. We will then assist you in getting to your room.

Check in time is 3 pm and checkout time is 11 am.
Our front desk phone number is: 386-252-3678

Pool

Our pool does have a lift, and guests in wheelchairs are welcome to use the lift when the pool is open.

Designation of Accessible Rooms

We have designated some rooms as our accessible rooms, despite the limitations noted above. These are intended for use by guests with disabilities, and reservations for these rooms will be set aside specifically for these guests. Guests will find door hardware that is accessible, and several other accessible features in these rooms, but should be aware that, as noted above, guests who use a wheelchair who cannot ambulate may not be able to utilize the bathrooms due to space limitations.

Guests With Hearing Loss And Vision Loss

We have ADA kits for our guests with hearing loss and vision loss, and a TTY at the front desk.

Service Animal Policy

We do not allow pets, but service animals are welcomed without any additional fee.

One of our guests with a service dog recently commented:

"…The Cove accommodated my service animal. They have a no pets policy but….when I called to ask about bringing my service dog Delores, it wasn't a problem at all. We really enjoyed our stay…Delores loved watching the waves crash…. We'd definitely book again."

We hope that you visit us soon, and that we can help you to enjoy our property.
